A patron at a local restaurant was caught stealing a female patron's wallet on Sunday after she felt her purse being tugged while it was on the back of her chair.
The person of interest arrested was also wanted by federal immigration officials, it was learned, after police were called to the scene to interview the woman. While police were questioning the suspected thief, an employee of the restaurant noticed he had a wine glass sticking out of his pocket. After arresting him, the officers found the woman's wallet inside his jacket pocket.
He was then charged with two counts of grand larceny and
criminal possession of stolen property. He is currently in jail waiting to be transferred to federal custody.
