Suspected Drugged Driver Kills 1

A mother and daughter were struck by a car driven by a woman who was suspected of being high on drugs New Year's Eve, killing one of them, Suffolk County police said.
The driver was traveling on Horseblock Road when she hit pedestrians on Saturday, police said. The victims were standing behind their vehicle on the eastbound shoulder of the roadway at the time, police said.
All three were taken to a local Hospital in East Patchogue, where one 40-year-old female was pronounced dead.
Two others suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was charged withdriving while ability impaired by drugs. She will be arraigned at a later date.
