A 26-year-old Rye Brook resident was arrested twice in the same day after crashing his vehicle two times within a span of 9-hours, authorities said.
He hit a guardrail on the Cross County Parkway exit ramp then he called 911 telling police that he was in an accident after fleeing another motorist who was firing at gun at him. After police found no evidence of his being fired at, they found 70 prescription pills. He was charged with felony driving while impaired by drugs, and misdemeanor
drug possession, a police spokesperson said.
The suspect was released to a relative.
A few hours later, county police responded to another accident on the same exit ramp and found the driver of the vehicle to be the same person who was arrested earlier that same day. He was arrested on the same charge, and charged with reckless endangerment and reckless driving, misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
