Man Charged with Felony DWI

A local man whose license has been suspended more than 30 times was charged with felony DWI, Kent police said.
The 54-year-old was stopped about 10:30 p.m. Saturday on Harriman Road. And as an officer approached the vehicle, he could saw an open bottle of vodka on the front passenger side seat and also smelled a strong odor of vodka coming from the driver, police said.
He was then charged with DWI he failed a series of field-sobriety tests. The charge was elevated to a felony because he had a previous
DWI conviction within the past 10-years. He was also charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway which is violation.
He was arraigned and then sent to the Putnam County jail without bail.
