Westchester County police have arrested a driver suspected of transporting thousands of dollars-worth of Oxycodone along the Hutchinson River Parkway.
Two Massachusetts men were arrested yesterday after an officer saw them driving with a missing front license plate, a county police spokesman said. After they exited the vehicle, the driver threw a plastic bag into a nearby wooded area. When it was recovered, the bag was said to have contained over 1,000 prescription pills, which can sell for $10 each on the black market, police said. Officers located a one semiautomatic handgun inside the glove compartment and a clip.
After a brief struggle, he was arrested on third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and
second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies; misdemeanor obstructing governmental administration; and a marijuana violation.
The passenger was also charged with the weapon offense. Both were arraigned and sent without bail to the Westchester County jail.
