Police arrested three people believed to be responsible for giving alcohol to minors at a party in Dix Hills before a 16-year-old girl was killed on the Northern State Parkway in April.
The Dix Hills couple who own the home where that party was allegedly being hosted, were charged with breaking the Suffolk County Social Host Law. The law states that adults are held responsible for stopping minors from drinking in their presence.
A 7-Eleven clerk in Commack (who police said sold alcoholic beverages to minors) was charged with prohibited sale of alcohol and unlawful dealing with a child.
The minors at that party drank the alcoholic beverages they purchased at that 7-Eleven, police said. One of the attendees, a 16-year-old from Dix Hills, left the house and was hit by a vehicle on the eastbound side of the parkway on the night of April 17. Police did not say if the 16-year-old party attendee was drunk at the time, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
