A woman was arrested for felony DWI after she hit a fuel tanker which injured the driver. The crash caused a fuel spill which then prompted a five home evacuation on Sunday night, Nassau County police said
The driver was traveling along Mineola Avenue when she attempted to pass the tanker but then hit the truck causing the tanker's driver to fall onto the street after the door swung open, police said. The tanker then hit a fence and then started leaking.
Police said they found an open bottle of wine in the woman's car. The child was then released to a family member.
The woman failed sobriety tests, had a BAL of 0.23 percent, and was charged with
felony DWI (under the Leandra's Law), assault, endangering the welfare of a child and consuming alcohol while inside a motor vehicle.
