An alleged drunk driver was arrested after being found asleep behind the wheel after an accident in Melville on Sunday afternoon, New York State police said.
The 51-year-old Queens Village woman hit the cement barrier on the right shoulder near Route 110 at 3:05 p.m., police said. The State Trooper discovered her sleeping in the driver's seat. He smelled alcohol on her breath, slurred speech and saw that her eyes were bloodshot and watery, police said
She told the officer that she had just one glass of wine, but it was the size of "a fish bowl," police said in a statement. Her blood alcohol content was 0.18 percent, police said.
She was charged with felony DWI due to a prior DWI conviction within the past 10-years, and traffic violations.
