A Poughkeepsie man with a long criminal record is at the Putnam County jail where he is being held without bail after he was arrested on 10 felony drug charges following an investigation into cocaine and heroin sales in Putnam County, police said.
The 30-year-old was leaving his residence when he was arrested and taken to the Sheriff's Office in Carmel, where he was formally charged with five counts each of third-degree criminal sale and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Police became aware of the drug activities and assigned an undercover investigator to gain trust and then purchase drugs from him several times, police said.
The accused criminal record shows that he was on parole on a felony firearm conviction at the time of his arrest, and includes at least 19 prior arrests for offenses such as armed robbery and possessing a loaded firearm, according to the Sheriff's Office.
