DWI Suspect Fled Bus Crash

An alleged drunk driver was arrested after he fled the scene of an accident with a bus that injured his passenger in, Suffolk County police said.
The 21-year-old was driving westbound on Montauk Highway when his SUV struck a bus traveling eastbound near the corner of Waterworks Road, police said.
The 25-year-old passenger inside his truck was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center where he is being treated for a serious head injury. Two passengers inside the bus suffered minor injuries.
The 21-year-old driver then fled the scene on foot but was apprehended three hours later. He was treated at the same hospital for a broken wrist.
The driver was then charged with DWI and leaving the scene of an incident without reporting that the accident involved a physical injury.
He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.
