2 Charged with DWI, DWAI

Carmel police charged two motorists with DWI or DWAI after accidents, Chief Michael Johnson said today.
One 33-year-old was charged with DWI, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, felonies, plus traffic violations on Sunday after he hit a guardrail and then tumbled down an embankment on Stillwater Road
in the Mahopac section of town, police said. A passenger was taken by to Putnam Hospital Center for treatment.
The driver was charged with a felony because of a previous drunken driving conviction. He was arraigned and then sent to the Putnam County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
One 25-year-old from Mahopac was charged with DWAI, a misdemeanor, about after he crashed his car on North Drive, but then drove home, police said. An officer responded after he received a description and plate number on his vehicle.
