Police are investigating two car crashes early this morning where two people were charged with drunken driving.
The first accident was when a 36-year-old drove his car into mailboxes and two telephone poles on Orangeburg Road near Noyes Street. He was seriously injured in the crash and taken to Nyack Hospital. While he was in the hospital, he was charged with one
felony count of DWI. He was previously convicted of drunken driving, police said.
Two hours later, Orangetown police responded to a report of an accident in Nyack. Police said a 21-year-old man ran a stop sign and hit another a car before losing control and then hiting a fence.
No one was injured in that accident. The 21-year-old driver was charged with misdemeanor DWI. He was awaiting arraignment.
