Driver DWI in Fatal Crash

A 19-year-old driver was allegedly drunk after causing a crash that claimed the life of his teenage passenger in an early Thursday morning crash, Nassau County police said.
The driver was driving southbound on Brower Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle. He struck a tree at the corner of Oxford Road, police said.
The front-seat passenger, another 19-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was then taken to a local hospital admitted in serious condition with multiple injuries.
Homicide Squad detectives determined that the driver was driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was then charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter and DWI.
He was arraigned bedside at the hospital, police said.
