Putnam deputies charged two motorists with DWI on Route 6, police said today.
A 38-year-old Southeast woman was charged with DWI and aggravated DWI, felonies, on Saturday after a traffic stop. The charges were elevated to felonies because she had a previous
conviction within the past 10-years, police said. The aggravated DWI charge was filed because her BAC was at least
0.18 percent, which is more than twice the legal threshold of 0.08 percent.
A 28-year-old Connecticut man was charged with misdemeanor DWI and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, after he was stopped for a traffic infraction. The police officer then determined he was intoxicated, police said. His driving privileges were suspended in the State of New York which makes driving with a suspended license a felony, police said.
