A Long Island man was arrested after police say he led them on a chase through local streets in
New Rochelle. He eventually crashed into a homeowner's porch.
The chase began when Westchester County police saw a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta speeding along in
Eastchester.
An officer tried to stop the driver on the New Rochelle Road exit, but he drove onto the Hutchinson River Parkway instead. He proceeded slowly but when he ran over a stop sign, he then sped away. County police stopped the driver when he was driving at a speed of 100 m.p.h.
The 21-year-old man was charged with misdemeanor charges of fleeing, DWI, reckless driving and
aggravated unlicensed operation. He also faces speeding and other traffic violations.
