Police say that a nanny working for an Irvington family is facing felony DWI charges in Dobbs Ferry after she was found to be intoxicated behind the wheel with two children inside her car.
The 33-year-old was charged under Leandra's Law, which makes driving while intoxicated a felony when children are riding inside the vehicle. She was also charged with two counts of
child endangerment, a misdemeanor, and several other traffic violations.
Police said she was stopped at 10:30 p.m. on Sunday enue while driving her employer's SUV with a girl, 10, and a boy, 11, as passengers because a motorist had called police minutes earlier to say that a vehicle similar to the one the nanny was driving was traveling erratically on the Saw Mill River Pkwy.
The nanny was Dobbs Ferry to pick up a third child (of her employer).
She refused to take a breath test at the scene.Police called a family member to take the children back home.
