Driver Charged With Vehicular Assault in DWI Crash

Police said today that a driver has been arrested after he was involved in a crash that injured his passenger in East Meadow.

The 22-year-old was driving his southbound on Newbridge Road at when he crossed over into the northbound lane.  He then crashed into another vehicle  near the corner of Falcon Street at 7 a.m., police said.

The passenger was taken to a local hospital with skull, pelvis and rib fractures.  The driver was also hospitalized for a shoulder injury after police determined that he was DWI. He was placed under arrest.

The driver was then charged with assault, vehicular assault, reckless driving and driving while intoxicated and was arraigned bedside.
