Teen Driver Charged Under Leandra's Law

A teenager has been arrested for felony DWI while driving a go-kart on Shelter Island.  He is being charged under Leandra's law because his two passengers were minors.

Shelter Island Town Police pulled him over on West Neck Road when the officer found the 18-year-old to be under the influence of alcohol, police said.

The teen (also from Shelter Island) was charged with DWI, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in addition to several traffic violations.
