Driver DWI in Wrong-Way Crashes

An alleged drunken-driving crashed his car while driving the wrong way on the Sunrise Highway Service Road in Bohemia on Saturday evening, Suffolk County police said.
Scott Coutts, 40, southbound when he made an eastbound turn onto the westbound lanes of the Sunrise Highway Service Road and struck an SUV that was at a red light. He continued eastbound in the westbound lane then he turned his vehicle around traveling in the correct direction, police said. Coutts then struck a truck then hit a snow bank where he was stopped by police.
Coutts was charged with DWI, leaving the scene of an accident, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and traffic law violations.
He will be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
