A 43-year-old woman has been charged under Leandra's Law after she was accused of
DWI with her son in the car, police said.
She is due back in Stony Point Town Court on March 17 to answer one felony charge of aggravated DWI because Leandra's Law makes it a
felony to drive drunk with anyone under 15-years-old.
Police were requested to check on the welfare of her and her son on Tuesday. They then immediately dispatched an officer, Lt. Brian Moore said.
She was found driving near her home and was stopped by the officer, Moore said. She was arrested, taken to police headquarters for processing, and later arraigned. The boy (8-years-old), was not hurt and was turned over to his father, Moore said.
