A Point Lookout man was sentenced to two to six years in prison for killing a schoolteacher after pleading guilty to DWI in a hit-and-run crash in Long Beach in October 2009. He also pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of the accident.
Prosecutors said the 23-year-old man was driving eastbound on East Broadway when he struck Long Beach resident David King in October 2009 and fled the scene. The driver dropped off the female passenger and went to a friend's house.
The passenger reported the crash to police then they apprehended him later the same morning.
His BAC at the time of the crash was estimated to be .22 percent, almost three times the legal limit of .08 percent.
