DWI Bellmore Police Chase Ends in Crash

A man was arrested for DWI after a
hit-and-run crash.
Officers tried to pull over a car being driven erratically when the driver struck a Nissan and then fled the scene, police said. The police started chasing the driver in Bellmore and the chase ended in Seaford on Sunday night,
Nassau County police said.
The 52-year-old Hicksville man was apprehended later on Merrick Road where he was found to be under the influence of alcohol, police said.
The driver was then charged with reckless endangerment, assault, fleeing a police officer, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, DWI and multiple traffic violations.
He will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
