Yonkers Man Convicted on 7 Charges

A jury convicted a Yonkers man of hitting his girlfriend with a tire iron and then threatening to jump off the roof of her building.
The 25-year-old was found guilty of second-degree assault, third-degree weapon possession, aggravated criminal contempt and three counts of first-degree criminal contempt, all felonies, and one misdemeanor
child-endangerment charge. A charge of first-degree
burglary was dropped before trial. And the jury acquitted him of one count of first-degree contempt.
The man was found to have violated an order of protection on March 29 when he broke into his girlfriend's Yonkers apartment. It took almost two hours for police to take him into custody safely where he was then taken to a local hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
He faces up to 15-years in prison when he is sentenced Jan. 24
