A payroll supervisor was arrested on Thursday and charged with grand larceny for making up phony employees and creating false information to deposit more than $200,000 into her personal bank account, Nassau County police said.
Detectives said the 54-year-old worked at Win Holt Equipment in Syosset as a payroll supervisor. According to police, she allegedly created false employees by using false names, addresses and social security numbers, and then received wages through direct deposit to her bank account. The scheme went on from September 2009 to December of this year. She also used social security numbers from several former employees, police said.
She was charged with grand larceny,
identity theft and falsifying business records. She was scheduled to be arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
