An alleged driver accused of DWI is also being accused of attacking the police officer who arrested him.
Officers pulled over a vehicle for being driven erratically. Officers said the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license (due to a prior conviction for driving while intoxicated) and driving without a court-ordered
Ignition Interlock Device, police said.
His vehicle was uninsured, uninspected and had license plates on it that did not belong on that vehicle, police said.
While being processed at police headquarters in Hampton Bays, the accused allegedly punched and kicked the arresting officer, police said. The officer was not injured in the attack.
The 23-year-old was charged with felony DWI, driving without a license,
circumventing an interlock device, harassment and multiple traffic infractions.
He was arraigned Sunday at Southampton Town Justice Court.
