A 37-year-old was taken to Westchester Medical Center early after he catapulted off Bear Mountain Bridge Road and landed upside down nearly 20 feet below in a stream in woods.
Police said he was charged with DWI, refusal to submit to a chemical test and several other vehicle and traffic violations.
State police stated that a passer-by spotted the headlights in the wooded area and called police and then his car was hoisted up after the driver was taken to the hospital. The scene was cleared by 1 a.m.
Police said the wreck appeared to be an accident and that no other vehicles were involved.
