DWI Suspect Admitted Snorting Heroin

A man who crashed into an SUV on the Sunken Meadow Parkway in Commack told investigators he had snorted heroin before driving, New York State Police said.  He made an unsafe lane change and struck another near exit SM2, police said.

He was reported to have slurred speech, glassy bloodshot eyes, he failed sobriety tests, and "admitted to snorting heroin prior to the accident," police said in a statement.  Troopers found nine envelopes of heroin and one pill inside the vehicle, police said.

He was charged with DWAI by drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance, controlled substance not in original container, driving without a license and several traffic violations.
