Mom DWI With Boy Inside Vehicle

A woman was arrested for DWI after she fled the scene of a three-vehicle crash with her 5-year-old son inside the, Suffolk County police said.
She was driving a Dodge northbound on Centershore Rd. when she struck another vehicle driving westbound at the corner of Route 25A, police said. The driver inside the other vehicle then struck a Jeep that was stopped for a red light. The 39-year-old woman then fled the scene, police said.
The officers apprehended her at her home as the other drivers were treated at Huntington Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The child inside her vehicle was not hurt and he was turned over to a family member.
She was then charged with DWI with a child less than 16-years old, a felony under Leandra's Law. She was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident and endangering the welfare of a child.
