Police say that a Yorktown woman was charged with felony DWI with a child in her car Thursday night after she almost struck a police cruiser head-on.
Officer Jeffrey Eagan was heading east on Route 6 near Mount Hope Road Thursday when a westbound Mercedes nearly struck his cruiser, police said.
Officer Eagan turned around, stopped the car and placed the driver, Kathy Ciampi, 46, under arrest after she failed a field-sobriety test, police said. She was driving with a 15-year-old girl in her car.
Police said that Ciampi was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the car, a felony, unsafe lane change, failing to use a turn signal and refusing to submit to a field test, infractions.
