Putnam Man Arrested for Stealing Elderly Woman’s Purse

A Lake Peekskill man who offered to take out the trash for an elderly woman stole her purse which contained credit cards and a checkbook, state police said today.

Jovan Rodriguez faces one charge of fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, in the Sept. 2 theft, police said. He approached and then offered to take out the elderly lady's trash and in the process, stole her purse, police said.

He was arrested Wednesday after a Cortlandt State Police investigation wherein they identified Rodriguez after he tried to cash one of her checks.
