Two Queens men cleared of false drug charges are getting $300,000 settlement from the city. The two police officers have resigned.
Jose Colon, and his brother Maximo, lost their grocery store and were forced into debt as a result of the fabricated criminal case by the
NYPD narcotics officers, authorities said Monday.
Queens DA Richard Brown indicted Detective Stephen Anderson and Officer Henry Tavarez last year on corruption charges after prosecutors viewed the video taken inside the Delicias de Mi Tierra nightclub the night of the arrests.
The cops claimed that on Jan. 5, 2008, the Colon brothers sold them two bags of cocaine. The nightclub's video surveillance confirmed that their accusation was false.
Officer Tavarez pleaded guilty to a felony charge of filing a false affidavit and resigned from the NYPD.
Anderson left the NYPD to become a cop in Nassau County and is still awaiting trial.
