Man Hits Police Ambulance Head-on in While DWAI

A Nassau County Police Department Ambulance, while transporting a patient to the hospital, was struck by a vehicle driven by a man impaired by drugs Thursday evening, according to police.
At 6:54 p.m., police say the police ambulance was traveling northbound on Franklin Ave. when it was struck head-on by a 26-year-old of Valley Stream. Minor injuries were reported and the injured were transported to local area hospitals for treatment.
He is being charged with assault, criminal possession of a controlled substance, DWAI combined influence, DWAI drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana.
