Yonkers
man facing armed robbery charges over the weekend, police said.
Donte A. Williams of 354 Nepperhan Ave. was arrested after police said he assaulted and robbed two teens in the parking lot of the Hudson River Museum, then robbed another teen at the War Memorial Field on Saturday. At 5:55 p.m., a 16-year-old Yonkers boy was walking with a 17-year-old girl near the Warburton Avenue museum when they say a man armed with a box cutter riding on a bicycle rode by then stopped. He then forced the two victims to the museum parking lot. He then took a backpack containing cell phones, sports goggles and an undetermined amount of money. The robber also punched one boy in the face, causing swelling and a bloody nose. Police were then called.
As the two victims were being interviewed by police at the Detective Division at 6:53 p.m., police received a report of a second robbery at War Memorial Field. Police responded there and a 14-year-old boy told them that he and a friend were approached by a man with a box cutter who demanded a necklace from him. The robber then ran away. Police Officers Charles Walker and Jacqueline Estevez stopped Williams in Getty Square because he fit the description of the robber. The officers confiscated a razor from him.
The Police officers said their investigation determined that Williams was responsible for both robberies.
He is charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies, second-degree menacing and fourth degree criminal mischief, misdemeanors.
