Peekskill - Police said 16-year-old city boy had emergency surgery on Wednesday night for a lacerated liver after a 23-year-old man stabbed him at the Crossroads Shopping Center downtown in what may have been an ongoing dispute.
The boy was admitted to the hospital shortly after the 3:15 p.m stabbing with what Lt. Eric Johansen described as "critical injuries". Johansen said police were called to the shopping plaza on a report of an altercation and arrived to find the 16-year-old victim with a stab wound to his abdomen. He was then rushed to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla where he had surgery for a lacerated liver and to remove his appendix.
Meanwhile, Officer Andre Wright and Johansen located a suspect - Oshea Lovett, 23, of Peekskill - about 45 minutes later on Union Avenue and then took him into custody. Police charged Lovett with first-degree assault, a felony. He is being held without bail at the Westchester County jail and is due back in City Court later this afternoon.

Defending clients in the face of violent criminal charges is challenging. With a tenacious and aggressive attorney, you can work to build a compelling case that challenges the prosecution's evidence and may result in a "not guilty" verdict.
