4 Teens Stole Oars from Fishermen on Island

Lewisboro - Authorities said four teenagers were arrested Monday after they stole oars from two fishermen whereby leaving them stranded on an island in the middle of the Cross River Reservoir

Police from the shore and from a helicopter spotted the teens, ages 17 and 18, rowing to shore with the stolen oars, then entering into a red car and driving away, said Mercedes Padilla, spokeswoman for the New York City DEP. Bedford police then stopped the car after it pulled into the Fox Lane High School parking.

DEP police officers arrived and arrested them. The four, whose names were not available, were to be arraigned in Valhalla on felony charges of grand larceny and misdemeanor charges of petty larceny, criminal trespass and reckless endangerment, Padilla said.

Juvenile law is an area of law that deals with minors who have committed criminal offenses. These often involve underage drinking, drugs, criminal mischief and violations of probation.

If your child has been arrested or accused of any criminal offense, it is crucial that you consult a juvenile crimes lawyer as soon as possible. A conviction at this age may result in lost opportunities in education and employment, affecting your child's entire future. Just as in the criminal justice system for adults, a minor has particular rights and freedoms that should be protected, and this is best done with the help of a highly experienced attorney, who can, at minimum advocate that your child be given youthful offender status, which is discretionary in New York for children under 19 years of age.

Westchester County juvenile defense attorney Robert Schuster offers a complimentary consultation to discuss your legal matter. As a highly experienced criminal defense lawyer who has defended hundreds of minors from prosecution, Mr. Schuster can provide you with the insightful counsel and representation your child needs.
