Ossining - On Tuesday, a live-in boyfriend returned home drunk, punched his girlfriend in the face, took her cell phone and then refused to let her leave the home. This was the village's second domestic assault this week, police said.
The first domestic assault occurred at 3:40 a.m. Sunday, when Ricardo Alves of Tarrytown, broke into his ex-girlfriend's apartment, struck her in the face and then repeatedly slashed a man who tried to intervene, Ossining Detective Lt. William Sullivan said. Alvez, using a kitchen knife, cut the man before running from the apartment, police said. Police caught him on Broadway a short time later. He was still carrying the bloody knife handle, Sullivan said. The two victims were treated at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow.
Alves was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies, and third-degree assault and resisting arrest, misdemeanors. He is being held on $25,000 bail at the Westchester County jail in Valhalla, pending an appearance in Village Court today.
The second incident happened on Tuesday, when Segundo Barretto-Mejia of Havel Street returned home and allegedly assaulted his girlfriend. After he fell asleep, she ran to police headquarters to report, Sullivan said. Barretto-Mejia, 26, was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and criminal mischief, misdemeanors. He is being held in the county jail, pending a court appearance today
