Valley Cottage Man Charged in Burglary

Eric R. Flores, 42, of Valley Cottage has been charged with burglary in Orangetown.  He faces similar felony charges in Clarkstown where police say he may have been involved in as many as five other residential break-ins during the past two months.

Orangetown and Clarkstown police arrested Flores on Wednesday afternoon after a report of a house break-in on Flitt Street in Sparkill.  Officers chased a silver Mercedes-Benz leaving the scene when the driver crashed it into a parked car during that chase in downtown Sparkill, near Main Street and Sparkill Avenue, police said.

The driver tried to flee the scene but officers chased him and apprehended the suspect.  He was identified later as Flores, police said.

Orangetown police charged Flores with second-degree burglary, along with single counts of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
