Peekskill - Police said that five people were arrested on felony drug charges after city and state police raided an apartment that a 62-year-old man was allowing others to use as a crack den.
The investigation by Peekskill police and the state police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team culminated around 6 p.m. Wednesday when officers, troopers and a state police K9 unit raided a Union Ave. apartment, and then charged the tenant, Gerald Griswold, with first-degree criminal nuisance, a felony, for allowing others to sell and smoke crack cocaine in his home, police said.
Lt. Eric Johansen said in a release that police seized crack cocaine, packaging material and other drug paraphernalia and then arrested four others in the apartment. Police charged Griswold and Chantel Freeman, 30; Reuben Anderson, 36, of Peekskill; and John Mejia, 23, of the Bronx, each with third- and fifth-degree criminal possession.
Jonathan Green, 22, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and one count each of third- and fifth-degree criminal possession, felonies. He is the suspected dealer, police said.
Police said that Green was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from White Plains for animal cruelty.
