Bedford - Police say that the two girls who were stabbed inside their Bedford home are in stable condition and improving.
Lisa Turkki, 39, was arrested outside the home at 85 Girdle Ridge Road - across the street from Martha Stewart's residence - by Bedford Police Officer Matthew Hawley, who responded to the home at 9:30 p.m. and found Maeve Kelly, 7, and Annabel Kelly, 9, on the kitchen floor.
"The children did speak to officers at the scene," said Lt. Jeffrey Dickan of the Bedford Police Department. The East Syracuse woman now faces two counts of felony assault and is being held without bail at the Westchester County jail.
Police said Turkki (the sister of the girls' mother) was babysitting the children while their parents were at a concert at nearby Caramoor.
