Ct. Man Assaults Woman in Supermarket Bathroom

Carmel - Police arrested Donald Corrigan, 33, after he led multiple police agencies on an hour-long chase through the town after he tried to sexually assault a woman in a supermarket bathroom on Friday. He now faces felony charges for assault and imprisonment.
According to Carmel police, Corrigan tried to sexually assault a woman in a public bathroom of the Hannaford Supermarket at 1936 Route 6. Corrigan attempted to escape towards the Putnam County Bike Path. A Westchester County Aviation Unit helicopter then spotted Corrigan. He was chased and apprehended by Sgt. Gary Johanson of the Carmel Police Dept.
He is charged with first-degree attempted criminal sexual act and first-degree unlawful imprisonment, both felonies. He was arraigned and is now at the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $150,000 bail or $300,000 bond.
