Husband & Wife Plead Guilty in Fraud

A married couple pleaded guilty to defrauding $190,000 in pay and benefits from their employees who worked on three municipal sewer jobs in Rockland.

As a result, they must pay $638,000 in restitution as underpayments to workers, forfeit two vehicles and pay $55,0000 to the Rockland District Attorney’s Office.

As part of their plea agreement (they plead to second-degree grand larceny) they will also be barred from bidding or performing public work in New York state for five years. The 50-year-old wife also pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count ofpetty larceny. They will receive no jail time.

Drunk Driver Flees, Captured: Police

Town police charged two with DWI after two separate accidents.

A 40-year-old male from the Bronx who crashed his car into another on Sunday evening, fled the scene on foot, only to be captured a short time later.

He was then charged with DWI, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and reckless driving, misdemeanors, plus several traffic violations. Then he was charged with second-degree harassment, a violation, after it was revealed that he allgedly threatening to harm a man prior to the accident, police said.

The second incident involved a 28-year-old female from Holmes. She was charged with misdemeanor DWI early Saturday morning after rolling her car over, police said. She was evaluated in the ambulance and then later charged and ordered to appear in Town Court.

Man Facing Drug Charges

A Lincolndale man is sitting at the Westchester County jail after he was arrested on Monday night on felony drug charges, according to state police.

The 24-year-old was arrested on Route 202 and was then charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony,seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possessing a hypodermic instrument, misdemeanors. Police did not say what drugs he allegedly possessed.

Two Drove Drunk with Children Inside Vehicle

Two men allegedly drove drunk with children in their car are among other motorists charged with drunken driving, state police said.

One 50-year-old from Pleasant Valley was charged with aggravated DWI with a 9-year-old child in the car, a felony, on Sunday after he was in an accident. He was also charged with misdemeanor DWI and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

In a separate incident, a 40-year-old from Newburgh was pulled over by police on Friday on I-84 in Kent and then charged with aggravated DWI with a child in the car, a felony under Leandra’s Law, police said.

Teen Arrested at Train Station

A Poughkeepsie teenager who allegedly had refused to pay for a one-way ticket to Poughkeepsie was taken off a the train and had a run-in with police, police said.

He tried to ride the train out of Grand Central without buying a ticket ahead of time and then when he entered the train, he refused to purchase one.

Croton officers were waiting for him when the train pulled in and after he resisted arrest, he was charged with intent to obtain transportation without paying, resisting arrest, misdemeanors, disorderly conduct, a violation. He was released on $500 bail and due back in court May 16.

Man Stole Motorcycle, Crashed While DWI, Cops Say

A drunk man stole a motorcycle from the Harley-Davidson dealership in New Rochelle then drove it and crashed tino car as she exited I-95, police said today. After the accident, he attempted to flee the scene without a shoe.

The 33-year-old was found a block away then taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries he suffered during the accident. He was arraigned there.

Before the crash, he test-drove another motorcycle that was in for service but was not his.

He was charged with with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, and driving while intoxicated, felonies. TheDWI was elevated to a felony due to a previous conviction in 2009.

Man Who Threatened to Jump from Bridge Arrested for Attempted Murder

A man who threatened to jump from a scaffolding hanging from the Tappan Zee Bridge was arrested and charged with second-degree attempted murder, a felony, police said. He was ordered to be held on $250,000 bail.

He was turned over to police after being treated at a local hospital where he was taken after he was talked out of jumping from the bridge.

He is being accused of hitting his wife with a 5-pound barbell Saturday night, police said. He was intoxicated, got into an argument with his wife and he struck her several times with the barbell. She suffered mutlipule facial fractures. The assault was carried out onto the street and that's when neighbors stopped it. The police were called, but he fled the scene.

Local Man Used Forged Prescriptons

A local man faces felony charges after it was revealed that he passed forged prescriptions three separate times at a pharmacy in Jefferson Valley.

The accused, a 52-year-old man from Mahopac must now answer to five felony charges of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument after being arrested on an unrelated matter.

Home Security Camera Captures Burglar

A local man faces a felony burglary charge after an in-home security camera captured his image, police said.

The resident observed this while at work. He viewed a man inside his apartment and then called police. Officers responded to find a 19-year-old from Pleasantville leaving with a bag of jewelry, police said.

Although the victim did not know the person who burglarized him, he said the accused knows someone in the same apartment complex.

He has been charged with second-degree burglary then sent to the Westchester County jail, police said.

Man Convicted of Manslaughter in Deadly Fall

A man accused of pushing a NYPD Officer off of a stoop to his death was convicted Wednesday of manslaughter.

The 42-year-old also was convicted of a criminal contempt charge. He faces 30 years when he is sentenced May 23.

The officer was responding to a domestic violence call at an apartment complex made by the accused girlfriend. The girlfriend said that he had threatened to kill her and once the police officer was trying to handcuff the accused, he was pushed over a railing and then fell to his death.

DWI Suspect Charged with Gun Violation

A 22-year-old injured another motorist after driving drunk and the wrong way on Saturday. He is also facing gun charges, police said.

The accused was driving in the wrong when he hit an oncoming pickup truck driven by a 50-year-old man, police said. The accused fled the scene of the accident.

Police found the 50-year-old victim where he was then taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The police searched the area and found the accused car with front-end damage, he was taken into custody treated for his injuries and then placed under arrest. That's when police located the loaded hand gun.

He is charged with second-degree possession of a weapon, a felony, and several misdemeanors charges including driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, driving the wrong way and reckless driving.

Suspect, 19, Charged with Robbery

A 19-year-old suspect in a string of commuter robberies has been arrested and charged with three counts of armed robbery and one count of possession of a stolen handgun, police said today.

He was arraigned and is being held without bail at the Westchester County jail. The suspect has other robbery charges pending in other jurisdictions.

He is was sitting inside a BMW at a local train station when police were about to write him a parking ticket. They noticed s handgun in the vehicle. The gun was stolen, was unloaded and there was no other ammunition inside his vehicle, authorities said.

Woman Faces Fraud Charges

A 36-year-old woman was accused Thursday of defrauding her customers after it was discovered that she victimized 10 of her clients.

She was arraigned and was charged with first-degree scheme to defraud, a felony.

After an investgation, it was revealed that prospective customers would send her flowers or other mementos and payment for the accused to create personal rosary beads. The authorities received numerous complains about sending in money yet not receiving the expected rosary beads.

According to state law, a first-degree scheme to defraud charge is filed when the dollar amount in question exceeds $1,000.

She was released without bail pending a return to court.

Two Charged with DWI

Police charged one 53-year-old woman and one 26-year-old man with DWI after traffic stops in Cortlandt and in Rye.

The woman, from Staten Island, was charged with misdemeanor DWI on Wednesday in Rye, state police said.

The man, from Cortlandt, was charged with DWI and aggravated DWI, misdemeanors, about 3 a.m. Saturday on in Yorktown, police said.

Woman Sentenced to 3-9 years for Fatal Wrong-Way Crash

A 26-year-old woman was sentenced to state prison for a fatal wrong-way on I-95 in New Rochelle that killed a New Jersey man.

The woman was driving northbound in the southbound lanes on July 24, 2011 before crashing head on into another vehicle. A passenger in the other car, was killed. T

She pleaded guilty to three felony counts each of aggravated vehicular homicide; second-degree manslaughter; first-degree vehicular assault; and two counts of driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.

Her blood-alcohol content was 0.19.
